I have not read that book. It sounds good, though. My primary influences were Debbie Strayer and Ruth Beechick.

I'd be interested to know some of your favorites. I have the little Ruth Beechick set about a home start in reading, math, etc. But that is all I have read by her. And I am not familiar with Debbie Strayer. Sometime I'd love to get a little list from you.

“You Can Teach Your Child Successfully Grades 4-8,” “A Biblical Home Education,” “How to Write Clearly.” I have copies of all of those if you want to borrow them.

Debbie Strayer spoke at the Southeast Homeschool Expo several times. I need to see if I can find the recordings. She was always incredibly encouraging.

❤️ it! That is definitely another advantage of home education. Peers and teachers in public and private schools all want to push kids into THEIR molds.

But God has his own plans. He places children in families not schools. Wise parents create a nurturing environment where they practice intentional discipleship and then watch expectantly as God reveals what each child has been uniquely designed to do and to be in this world. ❤️

And those dollies are absolutely adorable. They don’t look like they were created by a 12yo. I’ve seen dolls from professional artists that were not nearly as lovely as these.

Becky,

Thank you so much for this encouragement! I read a book that really shaped my homeschool philosophy called I Saw the Angel in the Marble by Chris and Ellen Davis. It has been an anchor for me when I felt pushed and pulled by different ideas/ideals where education is concerned. What you wrote here reminds me of the underlying principles that the book are based upon. Curisou if you have read it? I so appreciate your encouragement here as a Mom farther along on the homeschool and parenting journey, raising creative and adventurous children.

I know I am biased, but I feel the same way about Paloma's dolls! She blows me away!

Love to you and the family! Thanks for your thoughts.
