Things I love:
This new song by my Rosie. Her music and lyrics absolutely astound me, and this song stops me in my tracks. I especially love these lines:
Goodbye to people I’ll never know
Who’ve felt the way that I feel
And know though this life will quickly go
The things that you felt were real
(You can read what she has to say about it in her post today on her substack at
.)Side note: I am sure Rosie’s song influenced my post from last week, Suspended Between Hello and Goodbye. (Here is a little snippet of it in video form.)
Walking Through The Garden With Pen and Paper:
My daddy’s garden is a very special place to me. I have a whole lifetime of memories playing there. One of my favorites is walking with my daddy is walking through the garden, asking him all the names of the flowers that were in bloom, trying to memorize them so that next time I could recite them back to him. This week, I went on that stroll in my journal, walking through from the secret garden gate, down the marble steps, past the rose garden, around the brick circle where Daddy married Randy and me, through the backyard, past the hydrangeas and the azaleas, around the ancient mulberry tree, and back behind the overgrown side of the house where the old bench is covered with moss. I wrote down all the names of every flower I could remember growing along the way. This felt, in some weird way, like a real walk through the garden. It helped me miss him in a healthy way. And I think it helped me to honor those beautiful memories.
(Also, the little doodle by Paloma is something I love… I found it when I turned the page.)
Projects in the Works!
I love them. We are putting the finishing touches on a spring journal with Paloma’s artwork. It is going to be wonderful!!! Stay tuned in the next couple of weeks for the big reveal.
Speaking:
I have had a revelation: I love speaking! I absolutely love this way of interacting and connecting with other women. I am currently booking for the upcoming year. If you live in the southeast and want to brainstorm with me about a women’s event, you can do that here. I love to talk about the themes that I write about here on this substack—finding the sacred in the everyday, journaling as a way of drawing near to God, living a life of vision, living without fear and without regret. Booking is easy! Just shoot me an email, and let’s see what we can imagine and plan.
Thank you so much for being here. I hope you are finding many beautiful things in your own life to love right now.
Sending a bright bouquet of daffodils and the promise of seeds that are waking to life just below the surface of the earth,
